Opal
Well-known Roman naturalist Pliny described this stone as “made up of the glories of the most precious gems…the gentler fire of the ruby, the rich purple of the amethyst, the sea-green of the emerald, glittering together…” What glorious gem is he describing? The opal! More commonly known for its white complexion, opal is also found in shades of black, dark blue, dark green, and gray. This jewel embodies hope, innocence, and purity, making this gem the accepted anniversary stone for the 14th year of marriage.
